The train from Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu tracks aside the Urubamba River. After a few days of rain, the river was raging. In fact, a day after we left, train service was suspended for over 6 hours- the first time that happened since 2010.

The natural beauty of the sacred valley is only surpassed by the amazing accomplishments of its inhabitants. They have been nurturing this land for thousands of years and are largely a self sustaining culture-amazing.

There are over 4000 separate salt evaporation ponds in this area. They are fed by a salt water Spring and one for each family in the village. The salt income supplements their family.

We spent this day exploring the archeological wonders of the Incan culture.
