Napoli – Pizza Of Course!

We tried 5 different pizzas in Napoli and they were all excellent.

Lunch on the street in Napoli.

Little family cafe – excellent.

Diego Vitagliano – restaurant overlooking Pozzouli harbor & just amazing pizza. This is the one we will remember. Our 65+server brought us a glass of his best red wine. We thought it would be too dry – Never doubt the Napoli Pizza gods! 😎 the wine was perfect with our pizza.

This is why Napoli is famous!

Pozzallo – near Naples

I have always avoided Naples. It’s tough & tumble reputation has sent me elsewhere in Italy. This time we booked lodging in Pozzuolo – recommended by Ruthann. Such a good move. We stayed in a historic villa – views of water & easy walk to all.

Loved Pozzuolo. Loved boat ride to Ischia. Easy train ride to Napoli CBD.

Scilla

Travelling from Taormina to Naples —it made sense to stay in Scilla. A tiny town in Italy.

Alessandro run the cafe in Scilla. Excellent. Proud.
Train station in Scilla. Just might be the first train station where you can pick fresh lemons.
Scilla is 2 blocks wide – on the other side of this building Tyrrherian Sea

Ortigia’s kitty cats

Ortigia does not seem to have a rodent problem & we thank these ‘hard working’ kitties for their contributions.

As you will see – their personalities are unique.

This kitty definitely has personality. This is her spot – and she is not sharing. And if you have a problem with that …tough!😄

….all of that communicated very clearly with her body English💜

Ortigia Sicily – Part II

We continue to be charmed by Ortigia. The shoreline stunning. We see lots of fish swimming in crystal clear water. The streets winding through ancient buildings- stunning. Fishermen cleaning their nets after a day at sea.

All for slow, easy travel.

Fast Ferry from Malta to Sicily.

Easy & fun. Except for 6:00a departure!

We have arrived in Sicily. Ortigia is our first base for 4 days. OMG – the food. We took a photo of our dinner -an antipasti platter so we can recreate st home!

Beautiful streets, shops, cafes,no wonder there is an over abundance of tourists!

Next stop Malta

Why Malta – not a really good reason – except we want to visit.

We had a great stay. Our hotel is in Cospicua neighborhood. Along water. Historic. Amazing old architecture & historic buildings. Lots of steps.

We did not realize how important Malta was to allied war effort & how much they suffered with constant bombing. A truly resilient citizenry.

In addition to touring Valletta- main city, we visited Marsaloxx, Mdina, & Gozo. Loved each place.

Marsalozxx – great seashore.
Marsaloxx outdoor dining
Colorful boats
Marsaloxx market – cannolis

Next Gozo

Great – rough seashore
Cool mosaics
Historic buildings

We took a fast ferry to Gozo Island about 30 minutes from Valletta. Snd, we found a quaint English pub to have a beer while watching USA men’s hockey.

Mdina- historic village -easy bus ride from Valletta. More great historic architecture and charming shops & cafes.

Great views
Views from Mdina

In all we loved Malta. People very friendly. Safe. Lots to enjoy.
