Ok – these next few posts are out of chronological order. …sometimes travel fun & poor WiFi get in the way!
We flew from Faro Portugal to Lyon after we booked our bike trip.
Love Lyon! We stayed in city center – easy walk to the fun sites. …and there are lots! And near amazing restaurants. We are amazed at how many cafes there are and everyone is busy. Locals & tourists love to eat out!
We biked between 25-40 miles per day. We would start at 9:00 – end around 5:00. Each day we would stop to tour sites & towns. We would pack our lunches & enjoy at some little town. The two bigger cities: Arles & Avignon. Aigues Morte was our final stop. I did not find distances nor climbs tough – rather navigating tiny village streets was difficult.
Our last stopFun wine tasting Lunch with the crew 😄
We arrive on our boat – our cabin has two single beds& tiny bath. Fresh air port hole.
Upstairs dining & living – cozy. Nice outdoor space at bow. Getting acquainted with fellow travellers – very fun & interesting. Bikes nice and follow the leader touting easy. Love my ebike!
Views along Rhône River stunning. Riding through countryside -the best. Biking through small streets of villages of Provence – exceed my expectations. We stop for a few tours of historic sites and enjoy lunch Al fresco.
We bike in countryside around Avignon. Flowering trees, budding grape vines. Charming old towns.idyllic
We have wanted to go on a bike trip for a few years. This year – while in Europe we decided to quit wishing & move to action 😄. We started to look for a bike trip that we could take while over here. So Camino – wait for another time. We wanted an easier trip and a trip where the weather would be warmer and the path would be forgiving. Then we decided that a boat/bike trip where we would ride with a group & eat dinner together – with a group numbered under 20 – all with a good price point would be ideal. We found one!
Girolibero.it had a trip going from Avignon to Aigues-Mortes. And we snagged the last 2 spots.
I am writing these notes after completing a fabulous adventure. We were busy and had very limited WiFi.
Riding through the countryside of France was fabulous. The privilege of seeing towns, castles, farms, up close – amazing.
Meeting interesting fellow travellers from Melbourne, Switzerland, AZ, Vancouver, San Francisco – wonderful!
We have rented a car / which we seldom do and are exploring a bit. We ventured to the tip of Algarve – Sagres & Salema. Sagres is right of Prince Henry’s navigation school. Wind blown & rocky – waves & surf – wicked. These explorers were courageous to take off into sunset.
Salema is just a fun little town.

You know that G & I travel with 1 backpack & wear the same beloved clothes for months! …yes they wash easily & dry quickly😄 and a few have asked for us to detail how we do this …which we will do in a few weeks.
…in the meantime our friend Eric R shared this post & wanted to share it with you💜
We are in Lagos for 7 days. We are using a home exchange & looking forward to hanging out here. Fun people, beautiful beaches, good food& a fun boat ride to the amazing caves – waterside.

We really had no idea there would be such cool rock formations right at our door.
We did go swimming today – wait – swimming is a misnomer- I went in the water up to my neck & soon retreated…..did go in!
